Jim Steffen is America's Fun Fitness Instructor. He also makes one hell of a hot dog. Many people have tried a dog at one of his stands positioned around town in the summer months... well - now you can get your Jim's Hot Dog fix all year long. The new restaurant is located on East Sandusky Street - just off Main Street. The decor is great - kind of retro meets new bold colors. There's a counter that seats approximately 12 and several tables. I've had carryout and sat at the counter. The hot dogs are all beef (and according to the menu, the cows are run through one of Jim's fitness programs. So - what size ball do you need for a cow to stand on while lifting weights? I have had the King Cole Dog, the Dyan Burger, the french fries and a chocolate malt. My wife has had the Ruben Dog. Both dogs were very tasty. The Old King Cole dog is topped with mustard, their own special chili sauce, and cole slaw. It is served on a soft, steamed bun. The Ruben Dog is topped with saurkraut, cheese and thousand island dressing. The fries were flavorful but not quite as crisp as I like them - and the malt was passable, but Dietch's doesn't have to worry. The burger was thick and seared just to my liking... unfortunately, it was a little cool by the time I got it home. But - the restaurant is called Jim's Hot Dogs - and that's what they deliver. Everything is very reasonably priced and I plan to make Jim's Hot Dogs a lunch mainstay. My ONLY complaint is that they are only open til 3 so I can't take a dog home for dinner. |
