Admit it. You’ve been waiting for another movie about Robin Hood. Not exactly? Well, surely you’ve wanted to see Russell Crowe beat up people with objects other than phones for the sake of entertainment, right?

Tony Stark ain’t Peter Parker. But then again, Robert Downey Jr. ain’t exactly Tobey McGuire, is he? This is a good thing for which moviegoers should be rejoicing in with the arrival of “Iron Man 2.”

Molly is a “10.” As in a “Perfect 10.”Kirk is a “5.” As in a “So Far From Perfect it’s not Even Funny 5.” Molly is a sought-after executive party planner who charges big bucks for organizing high-brow social events. Kirk? Well “ He’s a security guard at ...

Going in to my screening of “Shutter Island,” I tried to steer clear of any particular expectations of what it would be like, although to say I was expecting it to be “good” would be a considerable understatement. A lack of expectations will only benefit t...

Hollywood depictions of war are too often dripping with the political leanings of people at the top of the movie’s food chain. Don’t get me wrong: I’m as liberal as the next liberal media type, but I don’t need film producers, directors and actors force-fe...

James Cameron's AVATAR James Cameron's AVATAR

I fought it off as long as I could. Honestly, I did.

Although I’ve been hearing about “Avatar” seemingly since the day I learned to eat solid food, I really had no desire to watch the movie about blue people on a distant moon named after an online radio service (Pandora).

Star Trek Star Trek
By RT @ 5:26 PM :: 742 Views :: 2 Comments :: Article Rating :: Sci-Fi

 Confession: I've never watched an episode of "Star Trek." Another confession: I've never watched so much as two minutes of any episode of "Star Trek."

At no time in my life did I feel I was doing myself a disservice by avoiding this show like the plague. In my obviously limited perception and exposure to the show, "Star Trek" was a boring, emotionless, geeky show about a guy with pointy ears on a spacecraft with creatures with monstrous faces. Not really my cup of tea. Not until it came time to review a movie based on the show did I ever think, "It might have been nice to know the difference between Vulcan and Klingon."

The Day the Earth Stood Still The Day the Earth Stood Still
By RT @ 4:03 PM :: 472 Views :: 0 Comments :: Article Rating :: Sci-Fi

There's a list of movies that should never get the remake treatment, no matter how desperate Hollywood may be for story ideas. "Gone With the Wind" comes to mind. "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," "The Godfather," and "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" would be a few more.

I'm sure that a long time ago in a mind far, far away from the normal ones possessed by the rest of us, I'm sure "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" must have seemed like a good idea. This just in: It wasn't.

The plot of “The X-Files, I Want to Believe” revolves around the disappearance of an FBI agent.  In investigating the abduction, the only lead the FBI has is provided by a defrocked Catholic Priest who is a convicted pedophile. Father Joe (Billy Connolly) is a psychic who claims he has visions of the missing agent.  The agent in charge, Dakota Whitney (Amanda Peet), doesn’t know whether to trust him or pistol whip him.

"WALL-E" Rocks and Here's Why "WALL-E" Rocks and Here's Why
By RT @ 11:39 AM :: 580 Views :: 2 Comments :: Article Rating :: Sci-Fi, Cartoon

Imagine if everyone left the Earth and someone forgot to turn off the last robot. That's the premise of the engaging and visually stunning computer-animated flick, Wall-E, the latest from Pixar Animation, which brought us "Ratatouille," "The Incredibles" and "Toy Story."The year is 2700 and the titular Wall-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth Class) is a robot built to clean up the Earth, which has become a stark wasteland, and has spent his time since humans fled making little cubes of trash, developing a quirky little personality. He spends his days following his programming along with his roach friend, Hal (get it, Hal Roach) and collecting little treasures — lighters, sporks, rubber toys — until a new robot arrives to scout planet Earth for signs of life, EVE (Extra-terrestrial Vegetation Evaluator).
