What started out as three guys trying to entertain at a high school graduation party has turned in to a legitimate, widely eclectic rock and roll cover band project. The Newcomers are a Black Swamp area 20-something band specializing in rock and roll from the 60s through today.
Founding members Zach Barger (lead vocals, bass, and keyboards), Jeff Zellner (rhythm guitar, harmonica, and backup vocals) and Evan Iles (drums, auxiliary percussion) started up The Newcomers after Zach was asked to get a band together to play for a family friend's graduation party. The band would soon pick up lead guitar extraordinaire Paul Romanoski, and debuted with Zach and Jeff at a good friend's wedding reception, although Evan was temporarily replaced with Zach's dad.
The 4-piece ensemble that is The Newcomers today played their inaugural show at a customer appreciation event for Hancock Federal Credit Union. They were very well received, and have been gradually putting together a steady gig schedule ever since.
Recently, they played for the BS Connection both at the BGSU vs. Minnesota football game and at a "Swamp Party" at Nino's in Findlay.
The band has several more shows coming up in the next few months and is in the final stages of putting together a demo.
With such a broad repertoire, our band can entertain at a wide variety of gatherings. Whether it's a corporate event, wedding, bar gig, graduation party, or another social event.
