John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl and Josh Homme have combined musical skills and tastes to form Them Crooked Vultures.  Their debut album is worth a listen... or ten.  In fact, I have listened to it every day since my son told me about them.  Obviously, their musical resume is amazing - possibly putting them in that dreaded "super group" status.  However, they seem more about making good music and having a good time doing it. 

There is no pretense with TCV.  They are straight ahead hard rock - with enough musical complexity to make every song interesting.  Give them a listen.  You can find them on Rhapsody or check them out on Facebook, Myspace and Twitter.
